Todd who is currently 33 years old was diagnosed
with Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis in 2000 at the
age of 26, just 4 days after their youngest child was born.
Todd is on full disability and currently is able to walk short
distances with the assistance of a cane. His last MRI indicated
to his doctors that he is fortunate to be as mobile as he
currently is, and without a doubt, and likely sooner that
later, he will be confined to a mobility scooter or wheel
chair full-time.
Shannon, who is also 33 years old, currently
works full time for the state of Wyoming, and also has 2 part-time
jobs in order to provide for her family. She also handles
all the families finances, does all the household chores,
makes every effort to keep the small house organized and clean,
is there for every music, sports and school activity that
their boys are involved in, and lends support for Todd everyday
and especially the days when his MS is at its worst.
The Cranmore's have been through a lot over
the last 7 years and have never complained about the hand
that they were dealt. Their world (and house) has fallen apart
around them, and yet those closest to them weren't aware of
how bad things have have really gotten until recently.

The House
The Cranmore's house is a small
house in the county, but just outside of the city limits.
They are on a well that has become totally inadequate requiring
rationing of water. Consequently, laundry, dishes and baths
all have to be done on a schedule and not necessarily when
needed. With 3 boys, laundry is never caught up, dishes are
only washed a couple of times a week, and daily showers are
not an option for this family.
In addition, their house is
not handicap accessible, which will be a necessity in the
near future with the progression of Todd's Multiple Sclerosis.
Windows, doors and insulation are also inadequate and the
house is always cold in the winter. The wiring is old and
is not properly grounded, the entryway floods everytime it
rains, and the roof is starting to sag.
The Plan
Community Care Concepts is
planning a large scale renovation of the Cranmore house. Our
plan includes a 17' X 43' addition, changing the current floor
plan to make the house handicap accessible, and new insulation,
windows, sheetrock, wiring and plumbing throughout the house.
Most importantly, we are planning to have the Cranmore's property
annexed into the city so that we can hook them up to city
water and sewer. This way they will never have to worry about
running out of water again.
The annexation process has
already begun: the necessary paperwork was filed with the
city in early December, and the first reading to the City
Council will take place in January. Our goal is to start this
project in the spring of 2008, as soon as the annexation is
approved and the weather permits.
This project is estimated to
cost nearly $200,000.00. However, Community Care Concepts
has already received commitments for donated labor and materials
and are activly seeking additional donations of money, materials
and labor.
